Take part in the adventure by joining our volunteer team!

The 24th edition of MUTEK will take place from Tuesday, August 22rd to Sunday, August 27th 2023 in Montréal’s Quartier des Spectacles. Six days and nights during which electronic music and digital creativity will be in the spotlight.

Becoming a MUTEK volunteer means discovering the backstage of one of the most important Montreal festivals and contributing to its success while enjoying the programming. If you are as passionate about electronic music as you are about digital creation and if you are eager to meet new people, then join our team!

Application form

Everyone has a place at MUTEK and the missions assigned to volunteers are as varied as they are exciting:

Ticketing

Your mission: selling passes and tickets, scanning of tickets, distribution of bracelets and badges for the Festival and the Forum.
Skills required: comfortable with the public, friendly, adaptable, interpersonal skills, comfortable with technology.

Greeter

Your mission: informing and guiding the public. Serving food and managing the guestlist if needed.
Skills required: at ease with the public, friendly, adaptable, interpersonal skills, at ease with technology.

Transcription (English)

Your mission: live transcribing of MUTEK Forum conferences content in a shared Google doc, for people who are hearing-impaired and attending the Forum.
Skills required: perfect command of the English language, high typing speed, familiarity with the topics discussed at MUTEK Forum, quick to understand and contextualize, and able to distinguish between different speakers, comfortable with technology.

Festival set-up and dismantling, installation of signage

Your mission: helping to set up and disassemble venues, as well as installing signage for the Festival and Forum.
Skills required: punctuality, ability to carry heavy projects, adaptable.

Preparation of artists and guests goodie bags

Your mission: the day before the festival, preparation of gift bags for artists and guests.
Skills required: good organization, attention to detail.

Welcoming artists

Your mission: welcome artists at the hotel and/or airport.
Skills required: at ease with the public, smiling, dynamic, sociable, discretion, good command of English.

Merchandising shop

Your mission: selling the Festival and artists merchandise.
Skills required: comfortable with the public, good organization, friendly, interpersonal skills.

Green team

Your mission: raising festival-goers' awareness of eco-responsibility. Help with site cleanliness and selective sorting, ecocups recovery.
Skills required: vigilant, comfortable with the public, interpersonal skills, sensitivity to eco-responsibility.

Guestlist

Your mission: from a list, giving tickets to the guests at the entrance of the venues.
Required Skills: good organization, comfortable with the public, friendly, adaptable, interpersonal skills, at ease with technology.

Exhibition mediation

Your mission: explanation of artists' artistic approaches to audiences, presentation of works and technical set-up for virtual reality experiences.
Skills required: sociable, comfortable with the public, comfortable with technology, interest in new technologies/extended reality a plus.

Floating volunteer

Your mission: assisting the other positions when needed.
Skills required: versatile, flexible, comfortable with uncertainty, adaptability.

Surveys

Your mission: solicit festival-goers for responses to a MUTEK survey.
Skills required: comfortable with the public, good interpersonal skills, friendly, dynamic, confortable with French.
